vacuum tier lists + reviews x
Recently, I've been working as a house cleaner, which has granted me the opportunity to try out several different kinds of vacuums. These are how the vacuums I've used stack up to each other. Each vacuum will be rated from 1-5 for feel/handling, consistency of quality (whether different vacuums of the same model/type I've used are of equal quality or seemingly degrade quickly), and accuracy (whether the vacuum sucks up what it's supposed to).
Miele - any canister vacuum

Feel/handling: 4 Quality consistency: 5 Accuracy: 4.5

These are, by far, my favorite vacuums to use. They have a variety of different suction levels for different floor types and applications, are very modular and adjustable, and will leave cords, rug edges, and curtains alone rather than devouring them. The canister aspect makes them a bit bulky, but the thinness of the stick allowws for a good amount of flexibility, although I do have problems with getting under furniture as accurately as I would like to due to the angle of the vacuum head itself not wanting to stay flush with the floor due to its somewhat limited mobility. These are great at picking up pet hair, cat litter, dust, and bigger debris like pet food, cheerios, and rodent bedding.

Miele - any upright vacuum

Feel/handling: 5 Quality consistency: 5 Accuracy: 5

Tied for my favorite vacuums are the upright Miele vacuums. Like their canister counterparts, they only vacuum what you want them to, but they have less options for assorted applications. Their relatively more compact size makes them easier to manuever, but getting deep under furniture can be somewhat difficult due to the angle of the vacuum head and depending on the way you have set up the modular parts. These are great at picking up pet hair, cat litter, dust, and bigger debris like pet food, cheerios, and rodent bedding.
